ADPC’s 2024 Training Course Schedule
ADPC’s vision of safer communities and sustainable development through disaster risk reduction by providing specialized trainings and capacity development support to governments, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. The capacity development courses offered by the ADPC Academy (ACD) cover key areas of disaster risk reduction and climate resilience. We regularly update our training curricula in alignment with the priorities of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Paris Agreement, New Urban Agenda, 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and other regional DRR agenda.
ACD is the capacity development department of ADPC. It conducts comprehensive training and capacity needs assessments, training delivery and evaluation, systems strengthening, knowledge exchange visits and webinars on disaster and climate resilience areas through collaboration and partnerships with international and national training institutions, universities, governments, private sector, research and development agencies.
ADPC invite applications to the upcoming training courses from ADPC in May and June of this year:
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Course (in-person) 14-16 May 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand. This course moves from theory to practice, emphasizing the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) into Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) efforts with practical examples and case studies analysis from the field.
Climate Risk and Resilience Course (online): 28 May to 31 July 2024. Working in collaboration with the Centre for Development Innovation of Wageningen University, this fully online course empowers you as a change-maker. It provides practical approaches to increasing resilience against climate risks, covering disaster risk reduction, sustainable water management, and biodiversity conservation.
Disaster Management Course (in-person) 27 – 31 May 2024 in Melbourne, Australia. Developed in partnership with the Centre for Disaster Management and Public Safety at the University of Melbourne, this course focuses on disaster risk management, covering comprehensive strategies across hazards, levels, agencies, and disciplines to enhance disaster resilience. The curriculum includes modern principles like risk-informed planning and accountability, enriched with case studies and field visits to translate theory into practice through real-world applications.
Financing for Disaster and Climate Resilience (hybrid) 10 – 20 June 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.This course addresses the challenge of insufficient financial resources in achieving disaster and climate resilience. It guides participants in accessing global and regional disaster risk and climate funds for sustainable financing and effective mobilization strategies. Participants actively create tailored resource mobilization plans throughout the program through workshops, presentations, discussions, and consultations.
