Caribbean Youth Livelihoods Internship Programme (CYLIP) is delivered mainly through virtual media. Over a nine (9) month period, CYLIP Interns will focus on building technical competency in an area from among the following:
  • Climate change adaptation through climate services development and delivery to enhance the resilience of climate-sensitive sectors.
  • Environmental risk assessment to support marine, hydro-meteorological and climate early warning systems.
  • Build IT and computer programming skills to support the creation or upgrade of tools and applications that are deployed for use across the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH) and partner agencies.
The CYLIP also provides opportunities for the interns to develop critical entrepreneurial and business knowledge and skills, through:
  • Enrolment in at least two (2) online entrepreneurial/business short courses – one (1) mandatory and one (1) elective.
  • The delivery of a Speaker’s Series which exposes the interns to the lived experiences of and lessons learnt by mainly Caribbean innovators; entrepreneurs; experts and trailblazers in the world of business & science, with strong emphasis on climate resilience.
  • The support of coaches and mentors for interns with solid business ideas/proposals that they are passionate about pursuing.
  • The provision of an opportunity for the interns to work alongside CIMH personnel to solve weather/climate/hydrometeorological challenges faced by Caribbean entrepreneurs/small-to-medium businesses.
